What Does Self-Care Look Like in 2023?

Welcome to the last topic in the what I call the “what does it look like in 2023?” series. This week, we’re going to talk about self-care. Big shocker, eh? I digress. The question for this week is what does self-care look like in 2023? I’ve asked myself that question a LOT in the last few weeks.

Sometimes we feel like our self-care hits a road block. It’s not unusual because of all the things we have going on in our lives.

When we think of self-care, we often think of meditation, or other practices that help us get into a more calm sense of being. While this is true, self-care is MUCH more than that. It’s about taking care of ALL parts of your wellbeing. For some that may mean eating healthier foods. For others it may include more movement/exercise, and for some it may include that “down time” and activities that help them feel more centered. It’s as unique to each person as the activities themselves are.

So what does self-care look like in 2023? For me, it will mean a LOT more movement and a lot LESS unhealthy food. While I won’t restrict myself too much, I want to be more mindful of what I eat to make healthier choices.

I also want to move a lot more. I’ve started going to the gym a few times a week and doing cardio work. Now, I have to get to my strength training. I’m hitting a huge roadblock there but I know it’s possible.

The challenge for you all this week is to sit down and get serious about your self-care. Remember that it’s just as important as every other part of your life. Most importantly, you deserve to take that time! Never think that you’re being selfish engaging in self-care. Remember this motto because it sums it up nicely! “Self-care is NEVER selfish”

It’s so easy to get caught up in everyday life and forget to take care of yourself, but it’s important to make time for! I look forward to reading more articles!
