Tea Time is “Me Time”

tea time is "me time"
Take a sip of “me time”

One of my favorite ways to practice self-care is to sit down with a hot cup of tea! There’s just something about the warm mug and all the aromas of this fall beverage that get me all happy. I like to say that tea time is me time!

There are so many different varieties and flavors of tea. It’s almost like a buffet of herbal deliciousness! Think of a huge bouquet of flowers that are just waiting to be enjoyed! That’s just a small sampling of what tea is like for me, and could be like for you. The trick is to know how to make tea time part of your routine, and make it a staple of your self-care routine.

Most of the time, I like to enjoy a bit of tea in the evening. I usually do it before bed since it helps me relax from a day of work, and in some ways, helps me to get a more restful, deeper sleep. There’s just something about the warmth of the tea, and the aroma that helps my mind to relax and let go of whatever stress has come with the day. Frequently, my husband and I will do our tea time together while watching a classic TV show like I Love Lucy!

My Top 3 Tea Time is Me Time Teas

Mint

Ginger Lemon

Earl Grey

I personally love mint before bedtime. It helps my body to unwind and get into rest mode. The way it smells as I’m drinking it is just soothing and relaxing.

Ginger Lemon is a great after dinner tea. The ginger helps the stomach to calm down, especially if you just ate a heavy meal, while the lemon has a lovely aroma that dances across your senses like a vaudeville performance.

Earl Grey is my go to when I need a kick of caffeine in the middle of the day and don’t want coffee. This one is also nostalgic to those who love Captain Picard from Star Trek. I take my tea the same way. Earl grey, hot!

These are just a few ways I make tea time, me time. It’s an integral part of my self-care routine and I strongly encourage anyone to add it to theirs, if they love tea as I do! There are so many different teas to try and I love trying new ones. Tea time is also a great time to meditate. Sometimes I meditate with the tea in my hand.
