Let’s face it, the last few years have been ROUGH! I’m not just talking about COVID. I’m talking about everything. People have been divided over so many things, from politics, to how to handle their feelings of loneliness, and sadness. To put it bluntly, our mindset has suffered hit after hit. It’s time for a reset!

Set your mindset in 2023!
Time to set your mindset for 2023!

What am I talking about when I say the word “mindset”? Here’s the definition based on Merriam-Webster. Basically, it’s the set of beliefs or attitudes we have about ourselves, but I think there’s more to it than that. Mindset, at least as I see it, is also how we react to our internal attitudes and goals we set. It’s also about how we handle both success and fumbles. (I hate the word failure so I will never use it here at Grotto).

One of the toughest things surrounding mindset is that it can change constantly. One day, we may feel on top of the world about our life, business, job, or anything else. Something comes along, throwing us a curve ball and that all goes out the window. This is when we should reframe our attitude toward the curve ball. Instead of seeing it as a problem, our mindset should be to ask ourselves what positive outcome we can get from it. Shift our attitude, which changes the mindset!

One final thought on setting your mindset for the new year. It’s not just about setting it. It’s about following through. Think of it as setting a new goal. You can set the goal, but you have to take action on it to see a change. I challenge you to set your mindset (some call it intention) for 2023 and then, take action to make it a reality!

Daily affirmations can be a great way to help build a positive mindset. Check out this post where we talk about if affirmations are helpful or not!
