Happy November, everyone! I wanted to share some news with you all that I hope you’re going to love. I’m writing a book! In fact, this blog was the inspiration for it.
November is NanoWrimo (National Novel Writing Month) and this year I decided to take my love of this blog and topic to curate the text. I am using a lot of the entries from this blog in the initial draft. Here’s a little background about NanoWrimo. It’s a month long challenge to write a first draft of a book in 30 days. The draft must be at least 50,000 words for you to “win” the challenge. I’ve done it before and actually self-published one back about 10 years ago. I’ve done it so many times and I enjoy it so much!
Breaking the book down, I decided was a good idea. There’s one for mindfulness, one for meditation, one for self-care, and one for journaling. Each section will have it’s own parts from this blog. Those will be intermingled with newer content. Frankly, I used ChatGPT to help me with an outline and I’m following it as best I can. I also used ChatGPT for some prompts at the end of the book. The prompts can and will be tweaked. I used it to get started.

The most rewarding thing about doing this particular writing challenge is that I get to be as creative and free as I want. I get to share parts of myself (or what I have already shared) with a wider audience, if I decide to publish it. In additon, this is a month long challenge, each day has a goal of about 1,670 words per day. Most of the time, I can overachieve that.
My Goals For This Book
My main goals for this book are simple. They include:
- Sharing parts of this blog with a wider audience
- Potentially sending it to a full publisher
- Helping others to live a more mindful, and holistic life
In addition to the goals listed above, I want to be more intentional with my writing and get back to it. NanoWrimo is a great thing but it’s only once a year that I am able to do it. I find writing to be a very holistic part of my life. I do journal a lot more now but I miss being more creative. That’s why I love doing this challenge!
So there you have it! I’m writing a book! Last week, I wrote a post about Holiday Self-Care. Go check it out here!
Until next week, be well and namaste!
How fun! I wish you the best of luck!
Thank you, Angela! It’s a task but it can be SUPER fun! I’ve done it before but it’s been a few years 🙂
That’s so exciting! I think breaking it down will really help, especially as 50,000 words is a lot! Sounds like the perfect way to use ChatGPT too!
Hi Katherine!
It’s funny you mention ChatGPT because I used that to help me come up with some of the prompts for this book. I will be tweaking them, as I said in the entry but it helped me come up with a general outline as well. I do not rely on it for the bulk of the manuscript but I do enjoy using it for some of the lighter, more generic things.
