Dedication and Persistence

Hey there my lovlies! Last week was a rough week for me, both personally and professionally. I’m still looking for a new role so that’s been consuming a lot of my time. This week though, I wanted to talk about dedication and persistence.

We’ve all heard these words before. They’ve become part of our daily lives. It doesn’t matter where you go or what you do, people will always tell you to have dedication and persistence. This is even truer when times are difficult and you just want to give the hell up.

Dedication and Persistence

Over the last four years, I’ve been growing my hair out so I could donate to a wonderful organization called Children with Hair Loss. They provide wigs for young children suffering from various hair loss scenarios. It could be alopecia, cancer, or something else. The organization does NOT charge the children for the wigs but they rely on donations from people like you and I to keep them going. I wholeheartedly recommend this charity if you want to donate your hair.

Why did I go on that previous tangent when this post is really about dedication and persistence? Simple, It took both of those attributes to get to the point where I could donate my hair. I successfully donated 14 inches of hair and mailed the donation out yesterday! I am so happy.

The lessons that I learned during the process were so valuable. Beyond the topic of this post, it taught me to go for a goal no matter what people say or think. Something my husband always says is that I don’t have to get anyone else’s approval to do things in my life. In fact, he and my family were VERY supportive (although near the end, they were all asking when I was cutting my hair lol).

So what do you do if you find your dedication has gone the way of the dinosaurs? Keep going! Don’t give up on your goals! When you set realistic and achievable goals, you can achieve anything! For intense, my next goal is to learn how to code for apps and even websites. It’s about leveling up your skills and learn new things that could both be fun and helpful to your endgame.

To end this week’s post I want to challenge you. Look at your list of goals and pick one to go after. Once you do that, just go after it with persistence. Check out my post about continuous learning! Until next week, be well and namaste!

  1. This post really resonates with me. Someone once told me that persistence creates change, and I try to remember that when I feel stuck. If you persist, eventually, change will happen. Thanks for sharing your point of view!

    1. Hi Heather,

Thank you for dropping into the Grotto! I agree that persistence creates change. It also creates resilience and an ability to see what we’re truly able to accomplish! Have a great week 🙂

  2. Great job with growing and donating your hair to such a great cause! You are so right it definitely does take some dedication. I donated my hair twice in the last few years and there were days I wish I didn’t have so much hair around my shoulders but quickly reminded myself I was lucky I had it and I would be giving it to an amazing cause.

    1. Hi Tracy,

Thank you! It was so much fun (until the end when it got too difficult to manage lol). I may do it again at another point but I want to give my scalp a rest. I actually left about 9 or so inches so I can grow faster, if I choose to. It taught me a lot and I am SO happy that a little one will get to have it for their hair loss battle.

  3. It sure does take dedication and persistence to follow through with such a huge undertaking. Congratulations to you for completing the task for such a great cause!!
