A while back I put up this post on the blog about how learning is a form of self-care. Now, over a year later I still believe this. What I’ve also come to believe is that continuous learning is the key to a full life.
What I mean by this is that as we grow and evolve as people, it’s important for us to not just update current skills but to also learn new things. When you put yourself into a learning mindset, it means you’re ready and willing to admit that you don’t know everything. It’s a great place to be because it keeps your mind open.
The reason I bring this up is that I am not working right now, Because of this, my husband had suggested I enroll in a course on Linkedin. It was on the subject of project management and it was an eye opener! I come from an administrative and customer service background. The idea of getting into project management seemed like it might be a good progression. I’m happy to say that I went through the entire 14 hour course and passed my exam within a week!
When we’re kids and going through our education, the idea of learning new things isn’t foreign to us. It’s when we’re adults when it drops off. This is why I know continuous learning is key. When we decide to learn new things, it increases our brain power and sometimes we find a new subject we become passionate about. I won’t say I became passionate about project management but the subject absolutely piqued my interest and curiosity.
This week, I want you all to think about how you can incorporate continuous learning into your self-care routine. It may mean picking up a new hobby or something else.
Until next week, be well and Namaste!
